Park department in my town allows rental of pavilions for a fee. I booked the rental and paid the fee online about a month ago.
  • Show up, wouldn't you know it. Entitled AH sitting there, cooler and everything. When we pulled up my family was setting up at the wrong pavilion then proceed to tell me they already spoke with the nice gentleman who informed them HE had actually reserved the one he was at. Nah, I got receipts.
  • I park and go over to speak with the guy and cordially explain, "hey so we have this one reserved i paid for it about a month ago, we're going to
  • go ahead and start setting up here; we got around 20 people coming, so if you could actually go use the other one if it isn't reserved, this is easily resolved."
  • He goes on to explain that I was incorrect and that he had it reserved already and also his wifes cousins aunt or who ever the h_l, works for the park department and that he wasn't leaving, it was his son's graduation and his ex wife would be there soon to explain.
  • "Ok great then you should probably go ahead and call them and get this sorted out, but in the meantime we gotta continue setting up, i cant sit around and wait for someone to figure out something when i already paid and reserved this for today"
  • Smiling couple hugging outdoors at a birthday celebration with party hats and festive birthday decorations.
  • I should mention that there are little placards that have the reservation date and name, however ours was not there? The one from the previous day, dated for May 16th and someone elses name entirely.
  • Guy started getting all huffy and i'm waiting for him to call his people to tell me how i am wrong here, he then proceeded to threaten me and
  • say some audacious sh like we were trying to kick him out of the park and his son was gonna have words with me too, etc etc.
  • I showed my a (figuratively not literally) and started yelling at the guy saying you need to leave the pavilion you're wasting our time we paid to be here and you're acting like
  • you're the victim; he gets even more pred at being called out for his pov and i swear to god he even pulled the "you don't know who i am" to which i replied f you and f your son and his graduation,
  • then my wife starting going in on the guy telling him he could just leave like a gentleman because he knows hes in the wrong.
  • Meanwhile my conservative family is telling us to calm down let's figure it out, all that sh, but this guy knew exactly what he was doing. Someone
  • please help me put this into words how people act this very specific way like almost malicious incompetence then darvo narcissistic bulls. He got his reaction.
  • Police show up, they are already trying to side with the guy because oh! (he was a retired cop ) so i pull out my phone and show them the receipt in my email.
  • Tone shifts. Now it comes out I was threatening him blah blah like buddy theres 6 people here who saw you start this and furthermore being somewhere you didn't pay to be.
  • The cops essentially tell the guy to f off and hes arguing with them how i should get in trouble for the words i used and i told him to
  • "get the f over it got all in your feelings because you were wrong and then someone says f and you are all the sudden the victim?"
  • Guy finally off and goes to the pavilion he could have went to from the start; then the cops come back and talk to us trying to pull the whole "it was a misunderstanding"
  • yeah sure thing. Thats when we find out the fat f didn't even in fact reserve a pavilion, just thought he would take ours and that we would just deal with it. ALSO turned out
  • that the guy decided to take our reservation placard and put it on the other one EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE LABELED WHAT NUMBER PAVILION THEY ARE FOR.
  • So not only lied to his cop buddies about the turn of events but even lied about renting the place and crossing the line with trying to be sneaky and move the placard. Idiot. Still played the victim.
  • Still tried to mean mug us from across the park. Still walked with his tail between his legs when he was told to leave by the cops.
  • We had a amazing time after all that; set up all the decorations and everything and people started showing up to help out, grilled burgers and a steak for the birthday girl! Smash cake the whole nine yards.
  • I apologized to everyone for being an a but they mostly dismissed me and were just like yeah he was wrong but you were also wrong which i fully admit and hold myself accountable. But also f... that guy.
